Estimated Early Voting by Party: 2025

An estimate of the partisanship of voters shows that the majority of early ballots so far are from likely Democratic voters, in line with early voting patterns in recent Virginia elections. While likely Republican voters lead in early in-person ballots, likely Democratic voters lead in mail ballots by a larger margin.

Notes: Virginia does not require voter registration by party, and ballots are not counted until election day, so to obtain estimates of the party of voters VPAP matched the voter IDs in the Virginia Daily Absentee List with data provided by L2 Political, a data firm that uses an algorithm to estimate the likely party of voters based on factors such as past participation in primary elections and demographic information.
