Democrats Win Control of Executive Branch

Starting next year, the Democratic party will control both chambers of the General Assembly along with the Governor's mansion. This will be the fourth time in the last 30 years that the same party has controlled Virginia's legislature and the executive branch. This timeline starting in 1994 shows how frequently the party in power has changed in the Commonwealth.
