Building Constitutional Confidence: A Teacher-Led Forum

Building Constitutional Confidence: A Teacher-Led Forum

Dec 6 | In Person (Walter E. Washington Convention Center)

VPAP is presenting at the 105th National Council for the Social Studies (NCSS) Annual Conference (December 5-7, 2025)!

Grounded in the new Virginia social studies SOLs, this session is designed to empower secondary social studies teachers to strengthen their civics instruction. Because democracy depends on it, we’ll facilitate a dynamic, teacher-driven forum, led by Cori Fairchild, an experienced Social Studies Teacher Leader from Bedford, VA, and Erin Hill, Civics Education Program Director from the Virginia Public Access Project (VPAP).

To get us started, we will provide a selection of ready-made resources and topics, and you will be invited to contribute and prioritize your own topics related to teaching civics. Through a collaborative, democratic process, we will discuss these priorities and share strategies. You’ll walk away with a curated toolkit to help your students truly understand how our constitutional government works.

When: The NCSS Conference takes place from December 5-7th. Erin and Cori take the stage at on December 6th at 4pm.

Where: 801 Mt Vernon Pl, NW,
Washington, DC 20001
