Summary

As Passed House of Origin. Department of Social Services; Office of New Americans created.

Establishes the Office of New Americans (the Office) within the Department of Social Services to implement a statewide strategy to promote and assist immigrant integration within the Commonwealth on an economic, social, and cultural level. The bill also establishes an 18-member Office of New Americans Advisory Board to advise the Governor, Cabinet members, and the General Assembly on policies and programs implemented by the Office. The provisions of the bill are contingent on funding in a general appropriation act. (Less)
